Boman Irani

Boman Irani (born 2 December 1959) is an Indian film and theatre actor, voice artist and photographer. He is widely known for his comedic and villain roles in Bollywood films such as Don, Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Happy New Year, PK and Dilwale.boman

His education includes schooling from St. Mary’s School and then completed his polytechnic diploma course from Mithibai College. He can speak various languages fluently, which include English, Hindi, Gujarati and Bengali. Boman Irani has shared his personal experience on ‘The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’.

Boman got married to Zenobia on 25th January 1985. They first met in the year 1982, when Zenobia came to his shop as a customer. Three months after their initial meeting, the couple fell in love with each other. Finally they tied the knot after three years of courtship. The couple has two children named Danesh and Kayoze.

Early Life

Boman Irani has grabbed a huge fame in Bollywood in a less span of time. He is a professionally trained waiter and used to work in a prestigious hotel chain for over two years as a room service waiter before his debut in Bollywood. Later he decided to come back to his family wafer shop due to his mother’s poor health.

He looked over his business for several years but never stopped dreaming about being a part of the entertainment world. During his time in the shop, he would write short stories and even movie reviews for whichever he watched. In 1987, Irani turned to photography and continued until he turned into an actor.


Boman Irani started his acting career as a theatre artist and at the age of 44 he made his Bollywood debut with the film Josh. He became popular with film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. that brought him into limelight. He appeared in Aamir Khan starrer movie 3 Idiots which earned him a Filmfare Award and a Star Screen Award for Best Actor. He has also acted in Telugu movie Attharintiki Daaredhi. Boman has hosted the IIFA Awards along with actor Ritesh Deshmukh in 2008, 2009 and 2011 in Toronto. He is also seen in many commercials like Fanta, Ceat and Krackjack biscuits.
