Prabhu Deva is one of Bollywood’s most popular choreographers, actors, and directors. She has mostly worked in Tamil, Telugu, Bollywood, Malayalam, and Kannada. Deva has been widely reported by media like Michael Jackson of India for his fast dance steps.
Prabhu Deva was born on April 3, 1973, in Mysore, Karnataka to a Lingayat family and grew up in Alwarpet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was inspired by his father, Mugur Sundar choreographed for many popular films in southern India. His two brothers Raju Sundaram and Nagendra Prasad are also choreographers of southern India. He has learned Indian forms of dance as Western Bharatanatyam dance styles.
Prabhu Deva worked as a background dancer for a song in the movie Agni Tamil Natchathiram. His first film as a choreographer was Vetri Vizha. Aside from choreography, he also tried his hand to recite. His first role was a hero in Indhu (1994) with actress Roja. Prabhu also played with his brothers in the movie 123. In 2010, he served as president and director of a dance academy in Singapore called the Prabhu Deva Dance Academy. He also p
layed the lead role in ABCD (Any Body Can Dance), the first 3D dance film in India. He has won two National Film Awards for Best Choreography.
Prabhu Deva was married to Ramlath and had three children but his eldest son died in 2008, The couple got separated in 2010.
